I have seen and heard Arthur Wachnik, actor, musician, singer, director,  on stage on a few occasions. His rendition of a powerful song “Niech zyje bal” sung by Maryla Rodowicz was one of the most unforgettable elements of the Polish Independence Concert held at the Christian Performing Arts Centre in Toronto (CPA), a very special venue, of which Arthur in the artistic director.

    Arthur Wachnik

I talked to Arthur just before the CPA’s brand new production – The Nativity Musical. Its three shows were held last weekend, all sold out – and were seen by over 9,000 people.

I attended The Nativity Musical premiere and was impressed by the scale of this spectacular show, its fantastic cast and the play itself – its humour, phenomenal music, dazzling lights; sensational scenery, special effects; and a live orchestra. Also… so Canadian – young talented actors and dancers of all races (and the same in the audience). I loved the beautiful black Mary and the spectacular Caribbean angel Gabriel and his reggae-style annunciation.

My advice: make it your pre-Christmas treat next year and around Easter definitely attend the CPA’s Passion Play. I certainly will.
