Today you will hear my conversation with Michael Rubenfeld, whom our POLcast listeners remember from Episode 20 – A life-changing trip to Poland (Episode 20). Since then Michael has moved to Poland and now lives in Kraków.

Michael Rubenfeld is a Canadian performance maker, cultural producer, playwright and actor originally from Winnipeg, a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada.

His powerful play “We Keep Coming Back”, co-Created by Michael Rubenfeld and Sarah Garton Stanley with Mary Berchard and Katka Reszke, was shown in Canada, Poland and other countries. Episode 20 talks about this play.

Michael now lives in Krakow with his wife and son. I talk to Michael about the experience of living in Poland as well.

Since 2017 he’s been Artistic Director at FestivALT, an independent arts collective that produces an annual program of critically minded Jewish art and activism in Kraków.

    FIGHT WITH ART

Michael, his family and friends have been actively involved in helping Ukrainians. His latest unique project is hosting an online global art auction/sale to showcase and support Ukrainian artists whose careers had been halted by the war, and financially support charities assisting with war relief.

“Fight With Art” is an online charity campaign to offer humanitarian aid for Ukraine and the Ukrainian People. It’s AFFORDABLE – you can buy a great piece of art at a reasonable price and help Ukrainians at the same time.

    HOW IT WORKS

If you are interested in discussing purchasing some art, you can speak directly to Michael by contacting him at michael@festivalt.com.

Art in the auction starts as low as $100.00. Proceeds go towards 4 important and reputable charities in Ukraine and Poland providing humanitarian aid for Ukraine and Ukrainian people.

POLcast is not a news podcast. If you are interested in what’s written about Poland in English – online articles published in many countries by many media outlets, we post them daily on our POLcast Facebook. There’s some politics of course, but not only – culture, history, arts, and more.
