This story is featured in Episode 69

Arthur Lewinowicz, a violin and viola player, composer and teacher, has made it his life mission to help kids with various disabilities and special needs learn to play the violin and enjoy music. His school Singing Strings in Toronto offers unconventional music education to everybody, including kids wth special needs and from low income families.

We featured Arthur in Episode 59 of POLcast.

Arthur has been fighting with cancer since August.

This is the fundraising page on gofundme initiated by his friend Lavender where you can donate:

Help Violinist Arthur Lewinowicz Beat Cancer

    Lavender, Arthur’s friend, writes:

My dear friend and musical colleague, Arthur Lewinowicz, an extremely accomplished 26-year-old violinist/composer/performer and founder of a self-funded violin music foundation for children, has cancer. In September of this year, while busily working at his burgeoning musical career, Arthur was hit by an epic roadblock. Testicular cancer. His doctors immediately began chemo treatment, initially resulting in partial blindness from a brain tumor. He also has multiple tumors in his lungs. Chemo will soon be followed by radiation therapy, and surgeries. Dominated by a constant schedule of hospital stays and medical concerns, the one thing Arthur has been driven to continue is composing, day and night. He has even begun a brand new collaboration from his hospital bed with a vocal artist who is a perfect fit with his dynamic backing tracks and violin leads.

We would like to help him financially with his dream of producing an album while he battles his illness, with music as his lifeline.

Arthur is a recent Teachers College graduate of York University, has been self employed in music, and has no insurance plan. Of course, he is unable to earn money during this difficult time, and we would like to help him to pay his medical bills and living expenses (including student loans).

    Please help us help Arthur.

Save The Date! A fundraising concert for Arthur will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2020  from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Relish Bar & Grill (511 Danforth Avenue). Musical performers will include Arthur Boomin (we hope), Siona Majewski, Linda Lavender Band, Greystone and more. Stay tuned for details TBA.
